Rumble Chess basics: the shared card pool, merging to 4★, synergies and the Rumble Pass
Updated 2026-09-25 · 5 min read
In Rumble Chess 8 players buy from one shared pool of cards, and two 3★ Minions can merge into a 4★, which no other mode allows. The sections below cover how a match is ranked, how many copies a merge uses, where the synergy thresholds sit and what resets each season.
How a match works
Rumble Chess opens at 700 Trophies. Each match puts you against 7 other players in random matchups. A player whose HP reaches zero is out at once, and the order in which players drop out decides the ranking. Higher places earn more Rumble Trophies and Rumble Medals.
Your Captain has at most 200 HP in this mode. When your Rush Squad Units damage the enemy Captain, the HP it loses drops onto the field, and if you survive the round your Captain absorbs it. Nothing drops in Boss rounds, once only two players are left, or from an opponent who is already out.
Decks and the shared card pool
Everyone plays from the same decks. A season has 6 of them, and each match uses 3 at random. You can use every card in those decks, including ones you have not unlocked, and your own level-ups carry over. Every Minion in the decks has a minimum level of 7, so a card you hold at a lower level plays at 7.
Copies are limited and shared by the whole match: 10 of each 8-Cost Minion and 14 of each 5-Cost Minion. A card that runs out can no longer be bought. Sold cards go back to the pool, and so does every card an eliminated player bought.
Merging, up to 4★
Two identical Minions of the same ★ merge into one of the next ★: two 1★ make a 2★ and two 2★ make a 3★, with their ATK added together. Everywhere else 3★ is the top. In Rumble Chess two 3★ Minions merge once more into a 4★, which the game calls much more powerful than a 3★.
So a 3★ takes 4 copies and a 4★ takes 8. For an 8-Cost Minion that is 8 of the 10 copies in the whole match. The game adds that 5-Cost 4★ Minions are generally much stronger than 3-Cost ones, and that 8-Cost 4★ Minions are game-changers.
Stars exist only inside a match, where you make them by merging on the field. A card's level is separate and comes from levelling it outside matches.
Synergies
Each deck is a synergy group. Buying its Minions builds Synergy Points for it: a 1★ Minion counts 1 point and a 3★ counts 4, the number of 1★ copies merged into it. Selling a Minion from the field takes its points away and can switch an effect off.
Effects switch on at 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 and 50 points, and each step is stronger than the one before. Here is each group's effect at 4 points and at 50.
| Synergy | At 4 points | At 50 points |
|---|---|---|
| Cloud Synergy | Increases the ATK of Minions in the Shop by 1. | Increases the ATK of Minions in the Shop by 50. |

Trophies, Medals and the Rumble Pass
- Rumble Trophies raise your Rumble Chess tier across 16 leagues, from Bronze League to Legendary League, and unlock the Rumble Track rewards.
- Rumble Medals unlock the Rumble Pass: 60 levels a season, and every level after the first costs 200 Medals. Its free track pays 2,250 Gold and 500 Diamonds a season.
- Both the Rumble Track and the Rumble Pass reset every season, so their rewards can be earned again. Your Rumble Trophies are reset too and turned into Season Coins, which buy season-exclusive rewards.
