Gold and Diamonds: what levelling costs and where to get them without paying
Updated 2026-09-25 · 4 min read
Levelling a Rare Minion from 1 to 12 costs 17,700 Gold, an Epic from 4 to 12 costs 28,100 and a Legendary from 7 to 12 costs 40,000. Below is the price of every level, and the Gold and Diamonds that the free pass tracks and Co-op pay.
What the two currencies are for
The game calls Gold a common currency for upgrading Minions and buying common items, and Diamonds a highly valuable currency for valuable items such as Minions and Packs. Both come from chests and the Shop.
Diamonds also buy pass levels. A level of the Glory Pass or the Rumble Pass costs 200 Medals, or 50 Diamonds instead.
What each level costs
Every Minion of the same rarity costs the same to level. Rare Minions start at level 1, Epic at 4 and Legendary at 7, and all of them stop at 12. Each cell is the Gold and the Minion cards for reaching that level from the one before.
| Level | Rare: Gold / cards | Epic: Gold / cards | Legendary: Gold / cards |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 | 50 / 2 | ||
| 3 | 100 / 5 | ||
| 4 | 150 / 10 | ||
| 5 | 300 / 25 | 500 / 2 | |
| 6 | 500 / 50 | 800 / 4 | |
| 7 | 800 / 100 | 1,200 / 8 | |
| 8 | 1,200 / 200 | 1,600 / 14 | 2,000 / 1 |
| 9 | 1,600 / 350 | 2,000 / 25 | 4,000 / 2 |
| 10 | 2,000 / 600 | 4,000 / 40 | 7,000 / 4 |
| 11 | 4,000 / 900 | 7,000 / 60 | 11,000 / 5 |
| 12 | 7,000 / 1,200 | 11,000 / 75 | 16,000 / 6 |
| Total | 17,700 / 3,442 | 28,100 / 228 | 40,000 / 18 |
Where the cost piles up
Most of the Gold goes on the last two levels. For a Rare, levels 11 and 12 take 11,000 of the 17,700 Gold, and for a Legendary, level 12 alone takes 16,000 of the 40,000. Cards go the other way: a Legendary needs 18 in total, an Epic 228 and a Rare 3,442.
Omni Cards of a Minion's rarity can be used in place of its Minion cards. The level calculator adds up any range of levels for one Minion and shows how far the Gold and cards you already have will go.
Free Gold and Diamonds
- The free track of the Glory Pass pays 3,600 Gold and 200 Diamonds a season across its 60 levels. Every level after the first costs 200 Honor Medals, 11,800 for the season.
- The free Rumble Pass track pays 2,250 Gold and 500 Diamonds a season, also across 60 levels. Every level after the first costs 200 Medals, 11,800 for the season. Seasons 1 and 2 had 30 levels and paid 1,650 Gold. Rumble Chess opens at 700 Trophies.
- Co-op pays its largest amounts once, for the first clear of each stage: 1,000 Gold for Stage 1, 500 Diamonds for Stage 2, 300 Diamonds and 2,500 Gold for Stage 3, and 500 Diamonds and 3,000 Gold for the seasonal Quicksand Zone and Curio Realm. Co-op opens at 300 Trophies.
- The weekly Co-op clears pay 250 Gold for Stage 1, 400 for Stage 2, 500 for Stage 3 and 600 for a seasonal stage, so a week in which you clear all three regular stages and one seasonal stage brings 1,750 Gold.
- At the U-Pick Farm, Gold can sprout from farm level 2 and Diamonds from level 5.
- Gift codes add more from time to time, and their rewards arrive in the mailbox.
Putting the numbers together
One season of both free pass tracks adds up to 5,850 Gold and 700 Diamonds. That Gold is a third of the 17,700 a Rare Minion needs from level 1 to 12, and about a seventh of the 40,000 a Legendary needs from 7 to 12. The first clears of the three regular Co-op stages add another 3,500 Gold and 800 Diamonds, once.
